Where is the USB-C port located in the Bosch Smart System?
Purion 200, Purion 400, Kiox 300, Kiox 400C, and LED Remote — a step-by-step guide
Many users of e-bikes equipped with the Bosch Smart System have trouble finding the USB-C port needed for configuration, diagnostics, or software installation.
This is normal — in the new BES3 system, the USB port is not always where the user expects it to be. Depending on the type of display or remote, the socket may be hidden under a cover, located on the underside of the device, or even in a controller embedded in the bike frame.
That is why we have prepared a simple guide showing where to look for the USB-C port in the most popular Bosch Smart System configurations.
The most important rule
In the Bosch Smart System, the USB-C port is NOT always located on the display.
Example:
- Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 displays very often do NOT have a main service port directly on the screen.
- The port is then usually found in:
- the LED Remote
- the System Controller in the top tube
- or the Purion 200.
This is precisely why many users look for the socket in the wrong place.
Where to look for USB-C in the Bosch Smart System?
1. LED Remote
In many Bosch Smart System bikes, the USB-C port is located right here.
Most commonly:
- on the underside of the remote,
- behind a small rubber cover,
- next to the cable leading to the motor.
This is one of the most common access points for system configuration.
2. Purion 200
In the Purion 200 model, the USB-C port is located directly on the device.
Most commonly:
- on the bottom,
- or on the side of the housing,
- under a rubber protective cover.
On some bikes, access may be obstructed by the handlebars or the mounting method.
3. Purion 400
The Purion 400 also features its own USB-C port.
It is most commonly found:
- on the back,
- or on the underside of the display,
- secured by a protective cap.
4. Kiox 300 / Kiox 500
This location causes the most confusion.
In most configurations:
- the USB-C port is NOT located directly on the Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 display,
- you should check:
- the LED Remote,
- or the System Controller in the bike frame.
This is a very common mistake among Bosch Smart System users.
5. Kiox 400C
Here, the USB-C port is located directly on the display.
Most commonly:
- on the side of the housing,
- under a protective cap.
Why is the port sometimes hard to find?
The reasons are simple:
- bicycle manufacturers heavily integrate Bosch components into the frame,
- the covers are very small and inconspicuous,
- some ports are hidden under the cockpit,
- on many bikes, access is hindered by the stem or cables.
That is why it is sometimes worth taking a photo of the cockpit and carefully checking:
- which display you have,
- which control remote you have,
- and whether the bike has an LED Remote or a System Controller.
Note before connecting
Before using USB-C:
- turn off the bike,
- ensure you are using a DATA USB-C cable,
- do not use force when removing the caps,
- securely close the cover after finishing.
Summary
In the Bosch Smart System, the location of the USB-C port depends mainly on the type of cockpit and controller.
Most often, the port is located:
- in the LED Remote,
- the Purion 200,
- the Purion 400,
- or the System Controller hidden in the frame.
In the next part of the guide, we will show detailed photos and technical drawings for each solution step by step.
