Where is the USB-C port in the Bosch Smart System?
Purion 200, Purion 400, Kiox 300, Kiox 500, Kiox 400C and LED Remote — a practical guide
On e-bikes equipped with the Bosch Smart System, finding the USB-C port is not always straightforward. The port may be required for configuration, diagnostics or connecting a device using a DATA USB-C cable.
In the BES3 system, the location of the port depends on the display, remote and cockpit configuration. On some bikes, the USB-C port is located directly in the control device; on others, it is hidden under a rubber cover or located in a controller integrated into the frame.
The most important rule
In the Bosch Smart System, the USB-C port is not always located in the display.
This is particularly important for Kiox 300 and Kiox 500. In many configurations, you will not find the main port directly in the display. In that case, check the following components first:
- LED Remote,
- System Controller located in the top tube,
- Purion 200.
This is one of the most common reasons users have difficulty finding the correct port.
Where should you look for the USB-C port?
1. LED Remote
On many bikes with the Bosch Smart System, the LED Remote is the primary location for USB-C access.
The port is usually located:
- on the underside of the remote,
- behind a small rubber cover,
- near the cable leading into the bike system.
Before connecting, carefully inspect the underside and sides of the housing.
2. Purion 200
On the Purion 200, the USB-C port is located directly in the device.
It is usually positioned:
- on the underside,
- on the side of the housing,
- under a protective rubber cover.
On some bikes, access to the port may be restricted by the position of the handlebars, stem or cables.
3. Purion 400
The Purion 400 also has its own USB-C port.
Depending on the configuration, look for it:
- at the rear of the device,
- on the underside of the display,
- under a protective cover.
4. Kiox 300 / Kiox 500
With the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500, users most often look for the port in the wrong place.
In many configurations, the USB-C port is not located directly in the display. Instead, check:
- the LED Remote,
- the System Controller located in the bike frame.
If you use a Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 and cannot see a port in the display, this does not mean that the bike does not have a suitable USB-C connection.
5. Kiox 400C
On the Kiox 400C, the USB-C port is located directly in the device.
It is usually positioned:
- on the side of the housing,
- under a protective cover.
Why can the USB-C port be difficult to find?
Modern e-bikes use increasingly integrated cockpit designs. Manufacturers aim to hide cables and control components, which can make the USB-C port difficult to see.
The most common obstacles include:
- small rubber covers,
- a port positioned on the underside of the device,
- cables blocking access,
- a stem or handlebar positioned very close to the display,
- a System Controller integrated into the frame.
If you are unsure where the port is located on your bike, check exactly which display and remote are installed and whether the bike is equipped with an LED Remote or System Controller.
Important before connecting
- switch off the bike,
- use a DATA USB-C cable, not a cable intended only for charging,
- do not use force when removing rubber covers,
- make sure the connector is clean and dry,
- after finishing, close the port cover carefully.
Summary
In the Bosch Smart System, the location of the USB-C port depends mainly on the cockpit configuration and the components installed on the bike.
The port is most commonly found in:
- LED Remote,
- Purion 200,
- Purion 400,
- Kiox 400C,
- System Controller integrated into the frame.
For Kiox 300 and Kiox 500, remember that the USB-C port is not always located directly in the display.
