Is it possible to tune an electric bike?

Tuning and the legality of e-bike use – some facts and questions for discussion
In recent months, there has been a lot of emotion and legal questioning surrounding tuning chips for electric bikes. We have decided to take a balanced and objective stance.

Speedchip gives the user the ability to choose the assistance configuration — e.g., 25 km/h or 32 km/h. The mere existence of such a possibility does not automatically mean breaking the law or creating a hazard.
It is the user who decides how and where they use their electric bike and bears full responsibility for complying with local traffic regulations.

The law vs. reality
There are clear regulations in place on public roads — and it is the manner of traveling on these roads that should be subject to control, not the equipment itself.
A case in point is a passenger car, which can factory-reach speeds of 200 km/h. No one considers such a vehicle illegal just because it has that potential. It is illegal to exceed the speed limit in a given location.
The situation is similar with electric bikes.

Where is Speedchip fully justified?
In practice, many users use electric bikes in situations where the 25 km/h limit regulations do not apply:
✔️on private land
✔️off public roads
✔️in sports and athletic competitions
✔️on closed courses and tracks
✔️during off-road riding (MTB, trail, enduro)
In such conditions, many users expect greater freedom to configure their equipment — just as is the case in motorsports or other sporting disciplines.

It is also worth remembering that factory S-Pedelecs with type approval up to 45 km/h operate legally on the market, which often differ little in appearance from classic 25 km/h e-bikes. Additionally, many manufacturers (especially Asian brands) allow for changing assistance parameters directly from the bike's service menu.
Our position

The discussion should not focus on the technical possibility of changing parameters, but on the responsible and legal use of the equipment.
Speedchip does not encourage breaking the law.
It is not responsible for how the product is used by the end customer.

Every user is obligated to comply with traffic regulations and safety rules applicable in a given country and location.
Technology in itself is not a threat. The user's responsibility is of key importance.

What do you think about this?
Should the discussion about tuning chips focus on the equipment, or rather on the culture and responsibility of users? We invite you to a substantive discussion in the comments.
